In this piece I was “painting into the idea” - I was pulling at this thread of audacious, sensuous still lifes with high contrast and colorful tension. In the other pieces in this series, the colors are totally saturated and neon, which I loved; they feel explosive and unrestrained. But then I was interested in another flavor of pleasure, the silky, buttery kind that you melt into. Au Lait is from the French “cafe au lait,” which is coffee with milk — a jolt of energy with a creamy, sumptuous finish. These pastel neons, coupled with the rippled edges of the flowers… I could let my eyes wander in these details all day (and trust me, I have). These are colors and lines that linger on the senses.

This painting is not available for sale - I traded it to the fabulously talented @meghanshimeck in exchange for a gorgeous woven wool art piece which now hangs in my studio. I can however make prints on archival paper and canvas in any dimensions on request.
